WA deadline looms for differential rates

WA’s Department of Local Government says Councils should already be planning towards the adoption of their budget by council on 31 August.

However, data collected by the Department indicates that 77% of applications for imposing differential rates in 2022 were incomplete, it said in a statement.

“Incomplete applications resulted in an average processing time delay of 10 days, potentially resulting in delays to budget adoption and issuance of ratepayer notices,” the Department said.

To assist local governments with the preparation and submission of applications, the department has prepared a helpful infographic.

The flow-chart contained in the graphic provides a timeline for the preparation of applications and identifies areas where improvements could be made.
