Time to nominate for Crown land awards

Now is the time to recognise volunteers and organisations who make outstanding contributions to managing Crown reserves for their community, with nominations for the Community Achievement awards closing in one week.

NSW Minister for Lands and Water, Kevin Anderson, has urged Crown land managers to submit nominations by 23 August to celebrate those who go above and beyond to make our regions great places to live, work and play.

“Behind the scenes, Crown land managers work hard to maintain and improve local reserves and facilities for the whole community to enjoy, from nature reserves to sporting fields, public halls and showgrounds,” Mr Anderson said.

“I value our volunteers so I want to recognise the incredible efforts and our community organisations that spend countless hours making sure their local Crown reserves are kept in good condition now and for future generations.”

The Department of Planning and Environment – Crown Lands is sponsoring three Crown land categories in the 2022 Community Achievement Awards for Regional NSW and the ACT:

  • Individual Excellence in Crown Land Management Award, for volunteers who are members of an organisation or committee that manages a Crown reserve;
  • Crown Land Management Excellence Award, for organisations involved in the care, control or management of a NSW Crown reserve; and
  • Council Crown Land Management Excellence Award, open to the 128 councils which have a significant role in managing Crown reserves.

There are 34,000 Crown reserves in NSW, including more than 6,500 managed by councils.
