Mid-Western Regional Council has announced the appointment of David Neeves as the organisation’s new General Manager.
Mayor, Des Kennedy said Mr Neeves has demonstrated extensive experience leading local government organisations facing significant growth.
“Following a comprehensive and highly competitive recruitment process, I am pleased to welcome David, who brings more than 25 years’ experience in local government, including most recently, 14 years as the General Manager of Gilgandra Shire Council and as Chief
Executive Officer of Cloncurry Shire Council,” the Mayor said.
“The combination of the high volume of renewable energy projects within our region, housing development, infrastructure expansion and economic diversification will see major growth in coming years, bringing with it challenges and opportunities. David’s experience managing
change and positioning communities to maximise the benefits of major investment will be an asset for our organisation and the wider region.”
Mr Neeves said he was excited to join one of regional NSW’s leading councils.
“The Mid-Western Region is a dynamic and progressive region with enormous potential,” he said.
“My professional strengths have always centred on strategic leadership, regional advocacy, major project delivery, economic transition and community outcomes and these align closely with the opportunities that exist across the Mid-Western Region.
“I look forward to working closely with Councillors, staff, government, businesses and the broader community to deliver positive outcomes and ensure the region continues to prosper.”
Mayor Kennedy acknowledged outgoing General Manager, Brad Cam for his 20 years of service to the organisation and wished him every success in his future endeavours.
“Brad’s contribution to our community has been extraordinary. Under his leadership, Council has delivered a once-in-a-generation program of infrastructure, community facilities and strategic initiatives that have strengthened the region’s liveability, enhanced community
wellbeing and helped shape a strong and prosperous future for the Mid-Western Region,” he said.
Mr Neeves will officially commence in the role on 26 August.
