Member for New England, Barnaby Joyce, has visited White Park in Scone to announce a $3.1 million commitment from an elected Coalition Government to further develop the equestrian precinct.
Mr Joyce met with Upper Hunter Shire Mayor, Maurice Collison and General Manager, Greg McDonald, to confirm the funding, which will support upgrades to the campground area, including a sealed access road, powered sites, water connections and new amenities.
Mayor Collison welcomed the announcement, noting the benefits the upgrades will bring to local tourism and the equine sector.
“This is a major investment in one of our most important regional facilities,” Mayor Collison said.
“It will improve the experience for visitors, support the growing demand for equine events and help drive economic activity across the Upper Hunter.”
Mr Joyce said boosting the town’s ability to deliver for the equine community would help increase visitor numbers and cash flow into the local economy.
“An elected Coalition Government will commit $3.1 million towards an impressive $3.45 million upgrade of the equestrian precinct,” Mr Joyce said.
“The improvements will greatly increase the appeal and capacity of the camping grounds and help encourage visitors to stay longer in ‘Australia’s Horse Capital’.”
The Council thanked The Nationals for their ongoing support of White Park, which has already seen previous Federal funding deliver improvements including grandstand seating, a canteen, and campdraft arena.
