Celebrating women of Moyne

Victoria’s Moyne Shire Council will again honour inspiring women from the community as part of International Women’s Day celebrations.

More than 50 nominations were received for the annual awards which will be presented at a
lunch event at the Port Fairy Bowls Club on Wednesday March 8 – International Women’s Day.

The event will feature Mayor, Karen Foster and Mpower COO, Trudy Marr in Conversation,
discussing the importance of women in leadership.

Mayor Foster, Director Economy and Place, Jodie McNamara and past Inspiring Women of Moyne winner, Hannah Morris, have selected this year’s winners from an extensive list of nominees.

The Mayor said it was important for women in the Moyne community to be acknowledged for their valuable contributions.

“Each of the nominations highlight the extraordinary women across Moyne and their remarkable and inspiring stories.”

“We have received over 50 nominations, and each woman has been nominated because they inspire someone and make a difference to their life or the life of the community.

“These awards are huge passion of mine and provide a wonderful opportunity to celebrate
women making positive impacts in the community while continuing the push for greater gender equality.”

Tickets for the event can be booked online at www.moyne.vic.gov.au/womenofmoyne.

This year’s IWD theme is #EmbraceEquity and focuses on collectively playing an important role in forging an equal world free from bias, stereotypes, and discrimination.
