Bunbury netball upgrade thanks to PlayOn WA

Bunbury’s Hay Park netball courts have been transformed through the Western Australia Government’s PlayOn WA initiative which is helping to strengthen community sporting infrastructure across the state.

The major refurbishment has delivered modern facilities for the Bunbury Netball Association with the reconfiguration of 14 ageing courts to 12 new courts that meet national standards, including two multi-use courts to provide opportunities for basketball activities.

The project also included upgrades to drainage and fencing and the installation of six new LED light towers to replace ageing infrastructure and allow more games to be played year-round.

Supported by $532,000 from the State Government’s Community Sporting and Recreation Facilities Fund the project was completed in partnership with the City of Bunbury Council and the Bunbury Netball Association.

“Hay Park’s netball courts have been completely transformed, and it is great to see the Bunbury community embracing these incredible new facilities,” said Deputy Premier, Rita Saffioti.

“Our government is committed to delivering high quality, inclusive sport and recreation facilities for all Western Australians through our PlayOn WA initiative.

“Investing in local sporting infrastructure is key to building healthy and connected communities with upgrades like this delivering lasting benefits for locals.”
