Youth-led event bringing a pop-up of colour to Albury

A youth-led Community Connect Pop-Up is set to bring energy and connection to Albury’s Fredericks Park on Saturday.

The event has been shaped and delivered by local young people, creating a welcoming space for the community to come together and discover the range of youth programs available across Albury.

From 11am to 3pm, visitors can enjoy a free barbecue hosted by Carevan, live music by young performers and a variety of hands-on creative activities and games. Members of AlburyCity’s Youth Council will play a key role throughout the day, supporting activities, hosting and engaging with attendees. The event highlights the value of youth leadership and the contribution young people make to community life.

“The Youth Council is looking forward to welcoming the community to a relaxed, inclusive event where everyone can join in, connect, have fun and learn more about what young people are working on across Albury,” Youth Mayor, Siahn O’Sullivan said.

Activities include jewellery making with Cats Pyjamas, face painting by a local young artist, and community games, including sack races, tug of war, parachute play and dance-offs. Live performances will be delivered by Mikayla King, Sarah Duffy and Winnie Em.

Attendees can also explore youth initiatives such as Retro Youth Friday night events, Battle of the Bands school holiday programs, Kool Skools and other initiatives delivered throughout the year.

“This event is a great example of young people leading the way, creating spaces that build connection, confidence and community pride,” shared Albury Mayor Kevin Mack.

“It’s an opportunity to celebrate youth leadership and strengthen understanding across generations.”

The Community Connect Pop-Up is supported by the Rotary Club of Albury Sunrise in partnership with AlburyCity.
