Toowoomba Regional Council has reaffirmed its support to Study Toowoomba, committing funding to the organisation for a further three years.
Study Toowoomba Inc. Management Committee Chair, Councillor Nancy Sommerfield said Study Toowoomba had quickly established itself as the peak body for international education and training in Toowoomba.
“The education and training market continues to grow nationally with the Toowoomba Region well-positioned to become a leader in this field,” she said.
“The education and training sector is already an essential part of our economy employing close to 10,000 people while bringing in more than $1.2 billion.
“Through Study Toowoomba, there is an opportunity we could build on this, which is why Council made the decision to continue its support.
“This has been reinforced by the State Government’s decision to increase its level of financial support.
“Study Toowoomba is now in the process of redeveloping its online presence and ensuring we have a strong social media focus which will allow us to attract more of the international market.”
Toowoomba Regional Council is a core member of Study Toowoomba.
Council has endorsed $25,000 funding per year for three years for Study Toowoomba Inc. conditional on securing sufficient additional funding from other regional stakeholders and Study Queensland to meet the operational requirements of Study Toowoomba Inc.
