Taylor Builders dives in to Millmerran Pool project

After an extended tender process, Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) has announced Queensland company, Taylor Builders, as the successful tenderer for the rehabilitation of the Millmerran Pool.

TRC Environment and Community Services Committee chair, Councillor James O’Shea said Council was pleased to have Taylor Builders on board to progress the project.

“Council officers have been reviewing the design for the new facilities submitted by Taylor Builders as part of their tender package in anticipation of getting it ready for approval by Council and State authorities as appropriate,” he said.

“Works will be carried out over three stages, which will involve finalisation and approval of the design, authority approvals and construction. Removal of the existing facilities will take place just ahead of construction starting.

“We are looking forward to providing an update for the community on the final design, ahead of the construction starting, which is expected in the first half of this year.

“We understand how the community has been affected by the pool being out of service this summer and we are working hard to deliver a facility that will be enjoyed for many summer seasons to come.

“In the meantime, there are still funds available for community groups to apply for assistance to travel for swimming activities in Cecil Plains or Pittsworth, and we encourage the community to take up this opportunity.”

Construction of the new facilities will include a 50 metre, six lane pool, with new change rooms as well as recreational waterplay options, which are expected to be completed in mid-2023.
