The Toowoomba Hospice and PCYC Toowoomba this week received a welcome funding boost from the proceeds of last month’s Toowoomba Mayoral Prayer Breakfast.
Toowoomba Regional Council Mayor, Geoff McDonald and Toowoomba Mayoral Prayer Breakfast organising committee chair, Pastor Andrew Hoey, marked the transfer of the funds, totalling $4,838.45 each, by acknowledging charity beneficiary representatives at Toowoomba City Hall.
Mayor McDonald praised the work of the respective teams at the Toowoomba Hospice and PCYC Toowoomba whose organisations provide valuable services to all parts of the community.
“I thank everyone who attended the 2026 Toowoomba Mayoral Prayer Breakfast, which this year raised $9,676.90,” Mayor McDonald said.
“I’m grateful for the contribution of all suppliers, many of whom have backed the breakfast since its inception in 1993.
“The Toowoomba Mayoral Prayer Breakfast has raised more than $345,500for regional charities.
“I acknowledge Toowoomba Mayoral Prayer Breakfast organising committee chair Pastor Andrew Hoey, Senior Minister at Rangeville Community Church and his committee, speakers and performers, Rumours, the TAFE Queensland South West staff and their hospitality students, student volunteers from St Saviour’s College, St Joseph’s College and Toowoomba Grammar School plus our State Emergency Service volunteers for their contributions to this year’s function.
“I look forward to another successful event in 2027.”
Toowoomba Hospice Business Manager, Mark Munro said the funds would support the organisation’s operational expenses, especially for the maintenance and comforts associated with the six client suites.
Youth Club program manager PCYC Toowoomba, Sergeant Chantal Kelly said the funds would be used to purchase vital equipment to run youth and community programs for disadvantaged and at-risk young people.
Since opening in July 2003, the Toowoomba Hospice has provided compassionate, dignified palliative and end-of-life care to people living with terminal illness, along with pastoral care support for their families and loved ones. As a not-for-profit organisation, the Hospice relies on the generosity of the community to continue delivering its services.
