Two Queensland councillors have been named among a number of new appointments to the expiring Boards of Economic Development Queensland (EDQ) and WorkCover Queensland.
Goondiwindi Regional Mayor, Lawrence Springborg AM will join WorkCover Queensland as a new director, while Brisbane councillor Krista Adams joins the EDQ Board from 1 July.
Brendan O’Farrell will continue as Chair of EDQ, overseeing the agency’s role in accelerating housing supply, unlocking industrial land and supporting economic growth.Â
Joining the EDQ Board alongside Cr Adams are Tony Sowden, Michael McNab, Emma McCaughey and Sally Mlikota, who collectively bring significant expertise in development, planning and property.Â
The Board will continue to oversee delivery of the Government’s nation-leading Land Activation Program, Infrastructure Activation Fund and Industrial Land Acceleration Program.
WorkCover Queensland will continue to be chaired by Chloe Kopilovic, with Deputy Chair Greg Hallam, who were originally appointed until December 2029.
Joining Mayor Springborg as directors are Matthew Crossley, Scott Armstrong, Roz White, Trent Twomey, Fiona Hammond and Renee Cooper.
“Refreshing these Boards ensures our key agencies have the experience, commercial expertise and strategic leadership needed to deliver the policies Queenslanders elected us to implement,” said Deputy Premier and Minister for State Development, Infrastructure and Planning, Jarrod Bleijie.
“Economic Development Queensland is central to unlocking more homes, more industrial land and more infrastructure, while our industrial relations boards also play a vital role in supporting safe workplaces, protecting workers and employers and maintaining confidence in Queensland’s regulatory framework.
