Swan Hill Rural City Council has released its Draft Strategic Asset Management Plan (SAMP) 2025-2035 for public consultation, inviting community members to have their say on the future of local infrastructure and services.
The SAMP outlines how Council will manage, maintain, and invest in its diverse portfolio of assets – including roads, buildings, parks, stormwater systems, recreation facilities, and waste infrastructure over the next decade.
Mayor, Stuart King said the plan demonstrates Council’s commitment to responsibly managing the region’s infrastructure and community assets.
“Our assets shape the way we live, work, and connect. This plan is about making sure our infrastructure continues to meet the needs of our growing and changing community,” he said.
“The draft plan incorporates feedback from over 200 community members who participated in a recent survey. Key themes included the importance of sealed roads, footpaths, and open spaces, as well as strong support for sustainable asset management practices.”
Council’s Director of Infrastructure, Leah Johnston said the plan would play a pivotal role in long-term planning by supporting informed decisions on infrastructure investment and resource allocation.
“This Plan addresses key challenges such as population growth, economic development, and environmental pressures, while providing a structured approach to prioritising projects and maintenance activities when resources are limited,” said Ms Johnston.
The community consultation period will be open until Tuesday, 2 September. To view the Draft Strategic Asset Management Plan and provide your feedback, visit: https://letstalk.swanhill.vic.gov.au/draft-strategic-asset-management-plan-2025-2035.
