City of Kingston Councillor, Jane Agirtan, has returned to her role after being stood down in April during court proceedings.
The Council today confirmed Cr Agirtan (pictured) had concluded outstanding legal proceedings that led to her being stood down from her position.
“I am thrilled to be back to work representing the Chicquita Ward that elected me in November,” Cr Agirtan said in a statement issued by the Council.
“I am pleased that these matters have been resolved, and I look forward to working again with the community and Council. I would also like to thank the Mayor Cr Oxley for stepping in and looking after the Chicquita Ward community during my absence.”
Cr Agirtan attended Melbourne Magistrates’ Court in February and April, and Moorabbin Magistrates’ Court in June after being charged with breaching a personal safety intervention order.
The charge sheet read that Cr Agirtan had allegedly failed to follow a direction to remove a social media post which referenced the alleged victim. Cr Agirtan escaped a conviction, but was ordered to make a $2,000 donation to the Royal Children’s Hospital.
