Regional events can now apply for up to $100,000 in funding as part of the Tasmanian Government’s Regional Event Recovery Fund which has been launched today.
Minister for Hospitality and Events, Sarah Courtney (pictured) said Tasmania was renowned for its unique home grown events which showcased all the state has to offer, while providing a vital boost to the tourism and hospitality sector.
“The $1.5 million Fund delivers on our election commitment by supporting organisers to undertake activities that contribute to the sustainability of events in regional areas and encourage interstate and intrastate visitation,” Minister Courtney said.
“Start-up and existing events held in regions across the state are able to use the funds to resource the measures required to overcome a challenge or support their organisation.
“This could include assisting with marketing activities or engaging personnel to provide specialist advice in areas such as business development, risk management and evaluation measures.”
She said the Government was a strong supporter of the events sector, which has “a critical role to play in restoring visitation to Tasmania and stimulating the economy following COVID-19”.
“I thank the industry for its hard work and resilience over the past eighteen months and I look forward to continuing to work with industry to build an even stronger and more vibrant sector  for the future,” said Ms Courtney.
Applications open on 9 July 2021 and will close on 3 September 2021. More information can be found at eventstasmania.com/grants_and_funding
