Queensland Govt to fast-track critical housing infrastructure for Rochedale

The Queensland Government has announced it will fast-track two critical infrastructure projects to help deliver 1,300 new homes in Rochedale as part of its $2 billion Residential Activation Fund.

The fund will provide a $47 million boost towards the $57.4 million Gardner Road Extension, set to unlock 685 new homes giving more Queenslanders a place to call home.

It will also fully-fund the $14.7 million Rochedale Road and Ford Road Stormwater Project, which will deliver key drainage infrastructure for Rochedale unlocking 600 new homes.

“The Crisafulli Government is delivering on our election commitment to give more Queenslanders a place to call home by funding shovel-ready projects which will unlock more than 1,200 new homes in Rochedale,” said Deputy Premier and Minister for State Development, Infrastructure and Planning, Jarrod Bleijie.

“Partnering with the Schrinner Council will unlock much needed housing sooner.

“This is just one way the Crisafulli Government is creating jobs, unlocking housing and ensuring that Queensland continues to grow ahead of 2032 and beyond.”

Brisbane City Council Lord Mayor, Adrian Schrinner said the Rochedale projects would help meet Brisbane’s housing needs and support the city’s growing population.

“Brisbane is one of Australia’s fastest-growing cities and we are pulling every lever available to deliver more homes sooner,” Cr Schrinner said.

“With 96% of new homes delivered by the private sector, the best way to address the housing crisis is working with industry to build more homes sooner.

“The Crisafulli Government’s $2 billion Residential Activation Fund will help encourage the industry to build more homes, sooner.”

The $2 billion Residential Activation Fund has so far received 178 submissions – 64 from South East Queensland and 114 from regional, rural, and remote Queensland.
