The Goulburn Mulwaree Youth Council held elections for the positions of Mayor and Deputy Mayor on Friday, with local students Cooper Cargill and Sehansa Ekanayake elected as Youth Council Mayor and Deputy Mayor respectively.
In a statement, Goulburn Mulwaree Council said both Cooper and Sehansa delivered thoughtful speeches to the Youth Council.
“Cooper spoke about the importance of giving young people a strong voice in Goulburn and creating more opportunities for them to get involved in their community,” the Council said.
“Sehansa shared her journey in building confidence through leadership opportunities and spoke about the importance of listening to others, making every voice count, and creating meaningful change.
“Goulburn Mulwaree Council congratulates Cooper and Sehansa on their election and looks forward to seeing them grow in their leadership roles as they represent the voices of young people and help shape the future of Goulburn.”
