Queens Park Ward Councillor, Ava Adams, was last night elected Mayor of Moonee Valley Council.
Mayor Adams will lead the inner Melbourne municipality for the first year of the new Council term.
Mayor Adams said she was honoured to be elected Mayor and to represent the Moonee Valley community.
“It’s an honour to serve as Mayor for Moonee Valley and a responsibility I take seriously and will approach with the utmost dedication,” she said.
“I am excited to work closely with our CEO Helen Sui, the executive team, officers and my colleagues, and look forward to leading the review and update of MV2040, our key long-term strategy guiding all that we do at Council to work towards the Community Vision.
“My focus will be to advocate strongly for Moonee Valley. It is important that we work to build strong relationships and ensure that we attract supportive policy decisions and resources to meet the needs and aspirations of our community.
“With my colleagues I am committed to continuing to build trust in our Council, to be leaders our community can count on. We will work hard to ensure Moonee Valley remains a place where every resident feels connected, valued and proud.”
Woodlands Ward Councillor, Fran Cosgriff, was elected as Deputy Mayor.
