Darwin council gives Christmas parking gift

City of Darwin Council is offering free parking in the city centre for three months to support local businesses in the lead up to Christmas and during the quieter non-peak visitor months.

The free parking will be available in Zone A and Zone B in, from 3pm on weekdays for three months from Monday 2 December until Friday 28 February 2025.

“Councillor Sam Weston brought a Notice of Motion to Council to support a three-month trial for free on-street parking in the Darwin city centre which was endorsed,” said Lord Mayor, Kon Vatskalis.

“We know it can be tough for businesses during the non-peak season, and we’re hoping that this initiative encourages residents and visitors to visit the city centre during the holidays.

“We are lucky to have an incredible range of retailers and world-class hospitality venues within the city centre, and I encourage everyone to make use of this offer to explore our wonderful city,” he said.

The Council says parking in the city centre will remain free all weekend except in Zone A on Saturdays from 8am to 2pm. All zones are free and unrestricted from 2pm Saturday and all-day Sunday.
