New Councillor elected for City of Whittlesea

The Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) has today formally declared the result of the recent by-election for the Thomastown Ward, with Chaman Tiwari (pictured) elected as the Councillor for Thomastown Ward for the remainder of the current Council term.

The by-election was held following the resignation of Nic Brooks as the Thomastown Ward Councillor in January this year.

“On behalf of the City of Whittlesea, we congratulate Ms Tiwari on her election and look forward to working with her in her new role,” the Council said in a statement.

“Ms Tiwari is currently overseas and will officially be sworn in as a Councillor on Friday 3 July, and will participate in the extensive Council induction program over the coming months.

“We warmly welcome Ms Tiwari to the City of Whittlesea and look forward to her contributions to our community.”
