Goondiwindi to host Queensland Community Cabinet

The town of Goondiwindi will host the Queensland Government Community Cabinet, Premier David Crisafulli has confirmed.

Premier Crisafulli said he and his Ministers will meet with Southern Downs residents, businesses and organisations to listen and focus on the priorities that matter most to the community, following strong advocacy from Member for Southern Downs James Lister, and Goondiwindi Regional Council Mayor, Lawrence Springborg, AM.

“We made it a key priority to visit regional towns like Goondiwindi to listen, learn and address the issues facing communities with those who are impacted by them,” Premier Crisafulli said.

“By working together, we can deliver meaningful outcomes that improve education, health and community safety, ensuring the Southern Downs region has the strong voice it deserves.”

Member for Southern Downs, James Lister thanked the Premier for bringing Community Cabinet to Goondiwindi.

“Mayor Lawrence Springborg and I wanted Premier David Crisafulli to bring cabinet to Goondiwindi, and I’m delighted that the Premier has agreed to do so,” Mr Lister said.

“When the Premier and all Ministers come to hold a community cabinet out here, it shows that we’re taken seriously as a vital contributor to the economic and social fabric of Queensland.

“Having Premier Crisafulli and all of Cabinet here, means that locals can speak directly with Ministers about what’s important to them, and to their local community.”

Mayor Springborg said he was grateful that the Premier has responded so quickly to the invitation to host a Community Cabinet in Goondiwindi.

“We thank the Premier for accepting the invitation to bring Community Cabinet to Goondiwindi,” Mayor Springborg said.

“This visit provides an excellent opportunity to showcase everything our region has to offer while ensuring our community’s challenges, priorities and future opportunities are heard at the highest levels of government.

“We look forward to welcoming the Premier, Ministers and officials to Goondiwindi and encourage strong community participation.”

Registrations will open in the coming weeks for community members wishing to raise local issues or discuss specific priorities with the Queensland Government.
