Mission Beach traders unite for CBD revamp

With a major CBD revitalisation underway, Mission Beach traders have come together to launch a ‘shop local’ campaign that will give away $200 a week for spending in the town centre.

Cassowary Coast Regional Councillor, Trudy Tschui congratulated Mission Beach traders for the ‘Shop Mission Beach’ initiative, saying business-to-business collaboration and an ethos of ‘spend local’ throughout the community was key to the revitalisation project’s success.

“Council can create an aesthetically beautiful space through infrastructure and landscaping, however, it’s the community spirit that will truly be key to success in revitalising the Mission Beach town centre,” Councillor Tschui said.

“Seeing our businesses through the construction is vital and I encourage everyone in the Cassowary Coast to take the time and spend local at every opportunity.”

To launch the campaign, Council has sponsored a ‘spend and win’ promotion that will see two shoppers win a $100 shopping voucher by spending $5 or more in the town centre’s businesses each week.

Mission Beach Trader, Joey Baldwin from Joey’s Café, said local small businesses are fully open and operating, offering high-quality services and products.

“We deeply appreciate the support from our community as we go through this transformation process,” he said.

“The final design aims to create an even more vibrant town centre while preserving the relaxed charm and distinctive character that make Mission Beach unique.”

Throughout the construction period, the campaign will roll out a diverse range of initiatives, all aimed at showcasing the unique products and services offered by Mission Beach businesses.
