Marysville on the road to becoming ‘RV Friendly’

Murrindindi Shire Council has announced the start of a 12-month trial for a new Marysville Recreational Vehicle (RV) Rest Stop, or short stay area, on Saturday 1 February.

With its waterfalls, scenic walks and abundant natural beauty, combined with a vibrant tourism offering, this new trial provides self-sufficient travellers an inviting opportunity to explore our region, the Council said in a statement announcing the trial.

Situated in Gallipoli Park Marysville, near the intersection of Falls Road and Mt Kitchener Avenue, this free, six-space site will accommodate fully self-contained recreational vehicles (RVs), with a maximum stay of three days (72 hours).

“The trial will enable travellers to immerse themselves in Marysville’s many attractions, natural beauty and charming local experiences. It will also evaluate the benefits and implications of introducing a short stay area for independent travellers,” the Council said.

The initiative, supported by Council and Gallipoli Park Precinct Committee of Management, was initially recognised as a key long-term project in the Marysville Community Plan 2020-2022. It aims to achieve ‘RV Friendly’ accreditation for Marysville through The Campervan and Motorhome Club of Australia.

Murrindindi Shire Council’s Economic Development Portfolio Councillor, Sandice McAulay welcomed new visitors to Marysville, saying “We are thrilled to welcome new tourists to our beautiful area.

“For the first time, RV visitors will have a convenient, dedicated space near Marysville. This trial will not only bring new energy and opportunities to local businesses and events but also strengthen Marysville’s reputation as a must-visit destination.

“We look forward to seeing the benefits it will bring to our community, the surrounding townships, and the broader Murrindindi Shire.”
