Clarence Valley councillor resigns

Clarence Valley Councillor, Allison Bryant, has tendered her resignation from the organisation.

In a statement, Mayor, Ray Smith said, “Democracy requires councillors to represent community at the table of local government and is saddens me that Allison has decided this is no longer a role she wishes to fulfil.”

The Mayor said Cr Bryant (pictured), who was in her second term as a Councillor, had been a strong advocate during her time with the Council, for the timber industry as well as health, medical and other services for the general community.

“Allison was the councillor representative on the project steering group for the construction of the Clarence Regional Aquatic Centre and has been a supporter of the delivery of all other major projects that benefit the community.”

“Alison’s contribution to Council meeting debate has been valuable and well-meaning and I have benefitted from her ongoing support as Mayor. She will be missed in the Chamber,” he said.

Council’s General Manager will now progress the notification to the NSW Electoral Commission to commence a countback election.
