National Asbestos Awareness Week will be held next month from 25 November to 1 December 2024, to raise awareness of the continued presence of asbestos.
Asbestos is still present in millions of homes, as well as public and commercial buildings across Australia. In homes built before 1990, asbestos can still be found anywhere. This affects 1-in-3 homes nationwide.
The campaign challenges complacency by reminding home renovators and tradespeople that the danger of asbestos is far from over and encourages them to call a licensed asbestos professional before beginning a renovation or DIY project.
A stakeholder pack is available to help councils roll out the campaign and raise asbestos awareness within the community.
What’s included in the stakeholder pack?
- Digital static assets – for Meta and LinkedIn;
- Print assets – Press ads and posters in various sizes;
- Newsletter assets – EDM imagery and email signature banners;
- Video and radio assets – available to download from early November 2024.
The Be Asbestos Ready campaign is funded and supported by the NSW Government and has been used by many agencies and local councils. The Commonwealth Asbestos and Silica Safety and Eradication Agency (ASSEA) is working in close partnership with the EPA to coordinate our messages in NSW.
The NSW asbestos awareness campaign will be running in NSW during November/December and March/April 2025.
