The City of Busselton Council is set to partner with the WA Police and other local emergency response services this weekend to undertake a ‘real life’ training exercise at Bunker Bay.
Mayor, Phill Cronin said the training scenario will enable multiple emergency responders within the City of Busselton to collaborate and put their emergency management skills and training into practice.
“This exercise will take place on the ocean and will utilise the immediate coastal areas. The relevant agencies will be responding as if it is a real life emergency situation so there will be a lot of activity in the area on the day,” he said.
“I would like to thank all the emergency response crews who will be taking part in this scenario on the weekend of 30th, and for all their continued commitment to community safety all year round.”
Dunsborough Police Sergeant Jon Adams said it was vital that agencies practice their responses to emergency management.
“We live in an amazing part of the world but unfortunately emergencies can happen along our coast and in our district so this necessitates us to practice our responses,” he said.
To enable this multi-agency training exercise to occur, areas around Bunker Bay, including sections of Shelly Beach Car Park, will be closed to the public on Saturday 30 November 2024 at 8am until 1pm.
