Murrumbidgee Council is inviting residents to celebrate the opening of the new Coleambally Library next Tuesday.
Residents will then have the opportunity to explore the new facility and participate in a range of free family-friendly activities including bookmark decorating, a library scavenger hunt, outdoor picnic reading, a themed photo corner and a prize draw for people who join the library or borrow an item on the day.
The opening marks an exciting milestone in the delivery of modern community facilities across the Murrumbidgee Council area.
The new library has been designed to provide a contemporary, welcoming and accessible space for residents of all ages to connect, learn and discover. Co-located with Council’s administration office, the new facility will enhance access to library services while creating a central community hub for Coleambally.
The project has been supported through $500,000 in funding provided from the NSW Government through State Libraries NSW. The funding is being shared across the development of both the Coleambally and Darlington Point Libraries, with each facility co-located alongside Council office spaces to maximise community benefit and service delivery.
Mayor, Ruth McRae OAM said the new library reflects Council’s commitment to providing high-quality community infrastructure for current and future generations.
“This new facility provides Coleambally residents with a modern, accessible library that will serve our community for many years to come,” said the Mayor.
“The opening day is about celebrating that achievement together, and we encourage residents of all ages to come along, enjoy morning tea, explore the new library, and take part in the children’s activities planned for the day.”
