Council welcomes $3 million commitment to Robinvale Riverfront

Swan Hill Rural City Council has welcomed a $3 million funding commitment from the Nationals and Liberals Coalition to fund further projects within the Robinvale Riverfront Masterplan, should the Coalition be elected at the upcoming Victorian State Election.

Announced on the weekend by Member for Mildura, Jade Benham MP, the Council said the commitment represents a significant investment in Robinvale and a welcome outcome for its ongoing advocacy efforts.

Mayor, Stuart King said the announcement was particularly pleasing, with the funding directly aligning with Council’s adopted 2026 State Election Advocacy Priorities.

“Robinvale’s riverfront is one of the towns and region’s greatest natural assets, and this investment would help unlock its full potential, creating a more vibrant, accessible and welcoming destination for residents and visitors alike,” he said.

“We’ve been working hard to ensure the needs of our entire municipality are heard, and it’s extremely encouraging to see this commitment for Robinvale.

“Only last week, we made a further public push for election commitments specifically benefiting Robinvale, so to see this announcement just days later is particularly rewarding.

“It’s a great example of the value of having clear advocacy priorities and consistently putting them forward,” the Mayor said.

With works already underway, the proposed funding would support remaining projects, including irrigation and landscaping at Centenary Park, new car parking along Robin Street, walking trails and upgrades to the Robinvale Community Arts Centre to create additional opportunities.

The broader Masterplan aims to improve connections between the town centre and Murray River, enhance recreational spaces and support future development.

Mayor King said completing the Masterplan would deliver lasting benefits for local businesses, tourism and the wider community.

“An improved riverfront would encourage visitors to stay longer, explore the town and support local businesses, while creating more opportunities for community events, recreation and social gatherings.”

“It’s about making the most of Robinvale’s natural assets, creating a space our community can be proud of while supporting the town’s long-term growth and liveability.

“This is a fantastic outcome for Robinvale, and we’ll continue advocating strongly for all five of Council’s election priorities, welcoming commitments from all parties that will help move our region forward.”
