Clarence Valley seeks feedback on native forest logging ban

Clarence Valley Council, in the Northern Rivers region of NSW, is seeking public feedback in relation to a motion to ban native forest logging on public land.

Council resolvedĀ at itsĀ June meeting to defer a motion from the Biodiversity Advisory Committee to phase out native forest logging on public land to its October meeting.

In the meantime, Council agreed to undertake further consultation from industry groups and the community on the matter. It was also resolved for councillors to discuss the issueĀ at aĀ workshop.

“Council is seeking written feedback from any industry stakeholders and otherĀ interested parties businesses and organisations, as well as the wider Clarence Valley community, on the call to phase out native forest logging on public land,” the Council said in a statement today.

The deadline for feedback has been extended to 5pm on 28 August. Feedback can be submitted via email toĀ council@clarence.nsw.gov.au.
