City of Belmont launches new community grants program

WA’s City of Belmont Council has launched its new People and Places Grant program, offering grants of up to $2,000 to help residents and community groups bring their neighbourhoods to life.

The program supports small, community-led placemaking activities that brighten local streets, activate parks and shared spaces, and help people connect with each other.

Mayor, Robert Rossi (pictured) said the grants reflect the City’s commitment to building welcoming neighbourhoods.

“These grants reflect the City’s commitment to building neighbourhoods that are welcoming, people centred, and full of life,” he said.

“I want to bring back the essence of days gone by, when neighbours knew each other, stopped to chat, shared a laugh, and looked out for one another. That sense of connection strengthens our streets, supports mental wellbeing, and makes our community safer.

“These grants give residents the chance to revive the heart of their neighbourhoods and create places where everyone feels they belong,” said Mayor Rossi.

Funding is open to City of Belmont residents and community groups to support small-scale activations, public art projects, street beautification, and other activities that improve the local community.

Alongside the People and Places Grant program, the City also offers the long running Your Neighbour Activation Scheme, previously known as the Your Neighbour Community Grant, which provides up to $250 to help neighbours host small gatherings that encourage local connection.

The People and Places Grant and Your Neighbour Activation Scheme support the delivery of the City’s Arts and Culture Strategy 2025 to 2030, which aims to inspire connection, creativity and discovery.

Applications are open throughout the year and are subject to funding conditions.
