City of Charles Sturt Council’s reconstruction of Jetty Street in Grange has won a Walking SA Award.
The revamp took out the award for Walking for Transport: Supporting South Australians making short trips by walking.
The Council says the recognition is the result of the thoughtful and strategic transformation of Jetty Street from a local street prioritised for cars into a walkable community asset, linking many of our strategic pathways together.
“The area is home to a diverse mix of residents, businesses and schools, attracting a range of visitors throughout the year due to its close proximity to the Grange Greenway, the newly established Grange Lakes Corridor, Coast Park and Grange beach,” Council said in a statement.
“The road reconstruction of Jetty Street ensures these assets will best accommodate the easy access needs of the community for the next 60 years.
“As part of the award, we have received $1,500 which will be put towards a future project to benefit of the local community (yet to be determined).”
