The selfless work of Broken Hill’s Heritage Walk Tour volunteers has received State-wide acclaim, with the group being recognised in the NSW Parliament.
A Community Recognition Statement was recently delivered by Member for Barwon, Roy Butler, praising the group’s efforts.
“The tour guides are all volunteers that dedicate their time to tell the history of their unique town,” said Mr Butler.
“I have seen firsthand the large number of tourists that take advantage of these tours, listening to the volunteers who are passionate about sharing their local history knowledge.
“I have had had the chance to listen in on the tour myself and am inspired by these incredible historians and story tellers. They certainly add to the tourist experience in Broken Hill.”
Those wishing to volunteer as a Heritage Walk Tour Guide, or as a City Ambassador to welcome tourists and provide information, can contact City of Broken Hill Council’s Visitor Services Coordinator, Patrick Kreitner, on 8080 3571.
The Heritage Walk Tour volunteers at their new shelter that was recently completed by Council on Kintore Reserve. New shelter features seating and an accessible pathway and will serve as the starting base for the tours.
