City of Coffs Harbour Council has confirmed a ‘missing link’ footpath will be built at Korora at no cost to the community under a proposed undertaking by a developer.
At its recent meeting, the Council voted to place the draft Opal Cove Voluntary Planning Agreement (VPA) on public exhibition for feedback.
The draft VPA is tied to a development application for a subdivision of land which would see the creation of three community title lots, demolition of existing Opal Cove Resort structures (including pavilions and tennis courts), environmental protection works and dedication of land as public reserve.
The development application has been lodged with the Council and is progressing.
“The draft VPA between the City and PT Investment Group Pty Ltd would see the developer construct a three-metre wide gravel footpath connecting James Small Drive to the existing walking trail at Pine Brush Creek Bridge,” said Council Planning and Communities Director, Ian Fitzgibbon.
“Additionally, the developer would part with a small parcel of land to ensure the new footpath remains entirely on public reserve.”
The development application seeks to create two new vacant lots with the third lot containing the existing Opal Cove Resort.
The vacant lots would be established north of the existing resort and sit adjacent to the City-controlled public reserve which includes Pine Brush Creek.
To see the draft VPA visit the City’s website here. Submissions can be made through to Tuesday 26 May.
