Brisbane residents to have say on $85m Kedron Brook plan

Brisbane residents are being invited to have their say on a 20-year plan to revitalise the local Kedron Brook catchment.

Brisbane City Council’s $85 million Kedron Brook Revitalisation Vision and Master Plan is set to revitalise the popular creek corridor stretching 29 kilometres across 14 suburbs from Ferny Grove to Nudgee.

“Brisbane is Australia’s lifestyle capital, and our Kedron Brook vision will create more to see and do in the suburbs,” said Lord Mayor, Adrian Schrinner.

“Just like Archerfield Wetlands and Hanlon Park, the revitalisation of Kedron Brook will make our lifestyle even better while also boosting flood resilience in this catchment.

“We’re now in the early stages of the design process, and we want everyone to have their say and help shape this incredible opportunity to make our suburbs even better.”

Four key precincts across the entire length of the catchment will be identified for revitalisation works. The Council says there will be a focus on planting new habitat along creek banks and improving functionality and water flow throughout the catchment.

Kedron Brook is one of three lifestyle destinations the Council is transforming, with revitalisation projects also underway at the Oxley Creek catchment and the Wynnum, Manly and Lota foreshores.

The first round of community consultation for the Kedron Brook Revitalisation Vision and Master Plan will close on Sunday, 29 June.

The Council says feedback from the first round of community consultation will shape the draft for this 20-year revitalisation plan. A second round will commence once the draft vision and draft master plan are finalised.
