VIC
Baw Baw Shire Council has officially adopted a new Procurement Policy following endorsement at its September meeting.
The Council says the policy was informed by community consultation which ran for three weeks and closed on 25 July, offering the community the opportunity to contribute by reviewing the draft policy.
Eighty people took part in the consultation process, with feedback from the community incorporated into the final version of the policy.
Baw Baw Shire Mayor, Annemarie McCabe said the new policy reflected feedback from the community and demonstrated fair procurement.
“It’s a responsibility of Council to ensure that the policy is kept updated, and that all of its procurement activities follow the best practice principles of value for money, open and fair competition and transparency,” Mayor McCabe said.
“Thank you to everyone who took part in the consultation. Your feedback contributed to the policy, and I was pleased to see it adopted at the Council Meeting this week.”
The updated Procurement Policy has been revised to align with best practice measures in the sector, as outlined in the Victorian Local Government Best Practice Procurement Guidelines 2024.
The policy outlines the principles, processes and procedures that apply to the procurement of goods, services and works carried out by Council.
