The City of Canada Bay Council has celebrated the opening of its newly refurbished $2.8 million amenities building at Goddard Park in Concord.
Mayor, Angelo Tsirekas said he was delighted to deliver the much-needed upgrades to the popular local sports ground.
“The upgrade includes a brand-new kiosk, covered viewing area, change rooms and shower facilities, accessible toilets, referee and first aid rooms and a community room,” said Mayor Tsirekas.
He said the project was a welcome upgrade to the former 1980s-era amenities building at the park, which was outdated and no longer fit for purpose.
“Our local community will benefit from this facility for years to come.”

Representatives from local rugby league and cricket clubs celebrated the opening with City of Mayor Tsirekas and Federal Member for Reid, Sally Sitou.
“Local sports infrastructure plays an important role in helping our community keep active, healthy, and connected,” said Ms Sitou.
“It is my pleasure to help open this wonderful facility, which will serve the needs of the growing community.”
The project was funded by the Australian Government ($1 million) and the Council.
