The Tasmanian Government has pledged $1.25 million to the Devonport City Council to beautify its key entry points.
Member for Braddon, Felix Ellis said the funding will allow the council to design and deliver improvements on the key highways entering Devonport.
The type of improvements to be considered include the use of plants, artistic elements, signs and lighting.
“The views of key stakeholders have been obtained and their input will guide the choice and design of the enhancements,” said Mr Ellis.
“The Government is supporting Tasmania’s visitor economy, which is a major contributor to the State’s growth.”
The grant is one of two provided under the North West City Gateway Upgrade program. A $1.25 million grant has also been provided to Burnie City Council.
The program includes improvements to Hobart, Launceston and the North West as the three gateways to Tasmania.
