Wyndham City Council has announced the appointment of Wyndham Community and Education Centre Inc (Wyndham CEC) to manage and activate Central Park Community Centre.
Located at 80 Lonsdale Circuit in Hoppers Crossing, the centre is scheduled to commence a range of programs and support from September 2023, including acting as a hub during the Wyndham Learning Festival.
Council says the Wyndham CEC is known as a leading education and community support provider headquartered on Synnot Street in Werribee.
“This partnership with Wyndham CEC is the latest evolution of a long-standing relationship with Wyndham City,” said Mayor, Susan McIntyre.
“Wyndham CEC has a demonstrated history of supporting new migrants, developing education programs and employment opportunities for our residents. They are an esteemed pillar of support in our community and are an ideal candidate to bring Central Park Community Centre to life.”
In addition to their existing service offerings, Wyndham CEC will create a micro-business and makers hub which presents an innovative opportunity to support women to develop small business, Council said in a statement.
Existing community groups using the centre will be able to continue using the centre and will be supported by council officers to develop relationships with the new management, it said.
