Toowoomba Regional Council has begun work on its Highfields Road Intersections Upgrade Project with Stage 1 ‘greenfield’ works on New O’Brien Road.
Key upgrades include:
- Three new roundabouts on Highfields Road at Kratzke Road / O’Brien Road, Lauder Drive and Rogers Drive;
- Realignment of the Kratzke and O’Brien roads intersection, with Kratzke Road to connect directly to a newly constructed ‘New O’Brien Road’;
- Stormwater improvements and underground relocation of water, sewer, power and telecommunications’
- New landscaping, trees and planted areas to create a more attractive, shaded and pedestrian-friendly streetscape.
“This project delivers critical trunk infrastructure to unlock new dwellings across greenfield and infill sites which addresses long-standing infrastructure barriers in Central Highfields,” she said.
Cr Taylor acknowledged the support of the Queensland State Government, which has contributed $20.1 million through the Residential Activation Fund Round 1.
