Following its success as the 2025 national winner of the Keep Australia Beautiful Tidy Towns Awards, Launceston will host the 2026 Australian Tidy Towns Awards Dinner, with councils, community groups and commercial operators are invited to join the celebration.
The 2026 Awards Dinner will be held at Launceston’s historic Albert Hall on Saturday 16 May from 6pm to 10pm.
The dinner is the centrepiece of a three-day national event that will bring together sustainability leaders, state and territory finalists, and some of Australia’s brightest minds in environmental stewardship, waste diversion, the circular economy, resource recovery and recycling.
Attendees will have the opportunity to network with national changemakers, hear inspiring stories from across the country, and celebrate the communities leading the way in local pride and environmental innovation.
Mayor, Matthew Garwood said the event would be a must-attend for any organisation passionate about sustainability.
“Hosting the national Tidy Towns Awards Dinner is a huge honour for Launceston, and a great opportunity to show off what makes our city special while connecting with people doing great work right across the country,” Mayor Garwood said.
“Whether you’re a council leading smart environmental projects, a community group getting stuck in on the ground, or a business pushing into the circular economy, this is a great night to celebrate, swap ideas and make some really valuable connections.”
Keep Australia Beautiful CEO, Val Southam said it was exciting to be bringing the national awards presentation to Northern Tasmania.
“Keep Australia Beautiful is delighted to host the 2026 National event in Launceston, the previous national award winner for the Australian Tidy Towns Sustainability Awards,” Ms Southam said.
“We look forward to bringing national representatives together in Launceston to demonstrate, celebrate and share community sustainability initiatives.”
