Construction of Wonthaggi Croquet Club’s new pavilion has been confirmed to begin in February, Bass Coast Council announced today.
In a statement, Council said it was excited to add another sporting facility to Wonthaggi Recreation Reserve, after granting the contract for the construction to an award-winning Wonthaggi-based builder.
Council appointed TS Constructions Pty Ltd – Master Builders Victoria’s 2022 Regional Commercial Builder of the Year – after a competitive open tender process.
Benefits for the community from the new space include: fully accessible facilities; office space; full kitchen with modern appliances; multi-purpose social space and a deck with views over the existing lawns; and a new equipment shed.
Council says the new energy efficient facility will provide a permanent home for the Wonthaggi Croquet Club, who have been operating from a small portable building for many years.
Works are due to be completed by early August, subject to favourable weather, contractor availability and material supply. The total project cost is $727,650, jointly funded by Sport & Recreation Victoria ($459,000), Council’s Capital Works Program ($243,650) and the Wonthaggi Croquet Club ($25,000).
