West Tamar Council has been ranked the number one council in Tasmania in the 2026 Snap Send Solve Community Satisfaction Index.
Snap Send Solve is a free community reporting platform and mobile app designed to streamline how residents report local infrastructure and maintenance issues to the appropriate authorities.
Each year, Snap Send Solve releases its annual community satisfaction index, which captures how residents rate their council’s performance across service delivery, responsiveness, communication, and for overall satisfaction.
The 2026 index, released this week, shows West Tamar Council as the top-ranked council in Tasmania on a rating of 64.5, up 1.8 points – and the 12th highest in Australia across 216 qualifying local government authorities.
Latrobe Council was ranked second in Tasmania on 61.8, with Hobart City and Devonport City each on 61.6. Tasmanians rated their councils second-best in the country.
The index rankings draw on 251,621 real-time ratings over the past year measuring Snappers’ satisfaction with councils’ responses to their reports, as well as 17,151 dedicated survey responses collected in May and June this year.
For the year ending June 30, 2026, West Tamar Council received 727 community service requests via the Snap Send Solve app.
Of those 727 requests:
- 106 were for overgrown vegetation
- 76 for deceased animals
- 39 for damaged roads
- 39 of a general nature
- 31 for damaged pavements (footpaths)
- 29 for general road requests
- 29 for street gutters or stormwater, and
- 378 listed as ‘other’ in nature
From a time perspective, it took an average of 1.56 days for Council to progress the request for action, and an average of 8.9 days to close off the customer request.
West Tamar Mayor, Christina Holmdahl said she was thrilled to see the West Tamar community embracing the platform so enthusiastically.
“To be ranked number one in Tasmania and sit in the top 12 across the entire country is a phenomenal validation of our outdoor work crews and our customer service team’s hard work, responsiveness, and dedication to their community,” Mayor Holmdahl said.
“Our residents have shown a fantastic take-up of Snap Send Solve, and because our community is so proactive in using the app to communicate issues to us directly, our team can step in quickly to keep our beautiful region safe and well-maintained.”
