WA Keep Australia Beautiful litter grants open

Applications have opened for the 2025 Keep Australia Beautiful (KAB) WA Community Litter Grants, with a total of $60,000 on offer to local governments, schools, community groups and small to medium-sized enterprises.

The grants support projects that help reduce litter and change littering behaviour across WA. More than $600,000 has been provided to community-led litter prevention initiatives since the KAB Community Litter Grants launched in 2013.

“The Community Litter Grants empower our communities to take ownership over litter prevention in their area and use their local knowledge to come up with grassroots initiatives,” said Environment Minister, Matthew Swinbourn.

“These grants are a great example that every little bit counts, whether it is a beach clean-up or an awareness program – it all makes a difference to keep WA beautiful and protect our environment.”

Last year, Belmont Community Environmental Champions received a $6,650 grant to launch the Less Mess Communities project, which allows Belmont locals to register a site, organise a clean-up and promote the results.

In the State’s Mid West, Northern Agricultural Catchments Council received $6,140 for its Fishing Float Survey project (pictured) to help minimise coastal litter by engaging volunteers to report and track fishing floats washed up between Kalbarri and Guilderton.

Applications for 2025 grants are open until 10am, 20 May 2025.
