Toowoomba Regional Council’s smart water meter project has hit 10,000 downloads of the app that helps residents to track their household water consumption.
Council Strategic Water Planning and Capital Delivery portfolio spokesperson, Deputy Mayor Councillor Rebecca Vonhoff said the project was yet another example of its commitment to investing in technology which benefits the community.
“The smart water meter project is revolutionising the way residents can track their water usage each and every day,” Cr Vonhoff said.
“We recently reached the milestone of 50,000 installations of the smart meters to properties and on the back of that achievement, we now have more than 10,000 households tracking their water usage using the app.
“Being able to see how much water you used yesterday compared with the day before, or how you’re tracking against daily targets takes the guess work out of saving water. The app gives people more control of how we all use our most precious resource instead of waiting months and wondering.
“This project is another example of TRC’s commitment to harnessing technology to assist our residents across the region.
“I encourage anyone who hasn’t yet downloaded the app to do so, to ensure you’re utilising all the benefits of this new technology. You can download the Toowoomba Water app from the App Store or Google Play store or access it online at water.tr.qld.gov.au.”
Council is working alongside Optus, ETS, Iota and GreenBe to deliver the project.
