Toowoomba council launches new user-friendly website

Toowoomba Regional Council has officially launched its new website, which aims to deliver a modern, accessible and easy-to-use online experience.

Council portfolio spokesperson for Customer, Experience and Engagement, Councillor James O’Shea said the new website was an important improvement in how Council serves a region that continues to grow in population, economic activity and visitor numbers.

“The Toowoomba Region is one of Queensland’s fastest growing and most diverse local government areas, and our digital services need to keep pace with that growth,” Cr O’Shea said.

“Our previous website had done its job for many years, but it was increasingly difficult to navigate, outdated in design and not well suited to mobile use. For a large regional Council, that just wasn’t acceptable.”

The new website has been designed to make it easier for residents, businesses and visitors to find information, access services and stay informed about what’s happening across the Region, from the city centre to towns and rural communities.

Alongside the new platform, Council is undertaking a significant rewrite of website content to improve clarity, accuracy and usability for the community.

“This new site puts the information people need right at their fingertips,” Cr O’Shea said.

The website upgrade was delivered in partnership with leading local government digital provider Granicus, using a platform specifically designed for Councils and local communities.

Cr O’Shea said the new website aligns the Council with best practice across Queensland.

“Through our partnership with Granicus, and the Local Government Association of Queensland, we’ve joined more than 50 of Queensland’s 77 local government areas already using this trusted platform,” he said.

“That tells us we’re on the right track, investing wisely in technology that’s proven, secure and built for local government.”

The new website includes improved accessibility features, clearer navigation, stronger search functionality and a design optimised for mobile and tablet use, ensuring it meets the needs of residents across a large and geographically diverse Region.

“This is about making Council easier to deal with and better connected to the community,” Cr O’Shea said.

“As our region continues to grow, this new website will play a key role in supporting transparency, engagement and pride in the Toowoomba Region.”

Residents and visitors are being encouraged to explore the new website and share feedback as Council continues to enhance its digital services. Visit it at www.tr.qld.gov.au.
