Clare & Gilbert Valleys Councillor, Ian Burfitt, has formally tendered his resignation from the organisation, stepping down after 12 years of service.
In a statement, the Council said Councillor Burfitt (pictured) had been a significant figure in the region’s local government history and a dedicated community advocate over many years.
“His service to the region is extensive. Not only has he served as a passionate Councillor for the Clare & Gilbert Valleys Council, but he also holds an historic connection to the area as the Chief Executive Officer of the former District Council of Clare from 1986 to 1994 prior to amalgamation,” the Council said.
“His deep understanding of local government and his ongoing commitment to the betterment of our region have left a lasting mark on the community.
“On behalf of Mayor Aughey, our Elected Members and Council staff, we sincerely thank Ian for his significant contribution and wish him all the very best for the future.”
