Queanbeyan Park and Queen Elizabeth II Park have once again been awarded with the internationally recognised Green Flag award.
“Queen Elizabeth II and Queanbeyan Park are two of only 11 Green Flag awarded parks in Australia and we are so proud to have these world-standard parks in our region,” said Mayor, Kenrick Winchester.
It’s the fifth consecutive year that the two parks have been awarded a Green Flag.
“I’m so proud of the team who put so much effort into keeping these spaces at the highest standard,” said Council Acting Manager Urban Landscapes, Sean Kaden.
“In scorching heat or frosty winter mornings they’re out pruning, weeding, mowing, or planting for the future of the park, not just how it looks today.”
The Green Flag awards recognise well-managed green spaces around the world, setting a benchmark for excellence and celebrating great parks.
“Achieving [the Green Flag Award] signifies that a park not only meets high standards of upkeep but also plays a vital role in the community it serves,” said Xyst Green Flag Ambassador in Australia, Karl Nesbit.
“Holding a Green Flag highlights the significance of these green spaces. It showcases the dedication, expertise, and technical skill of the operations team working tirelessly to provide environments that cater to the well-being of the community.”
