Port Phillip Mayor condemns antisemitic graffiti attack

Port Phillip Council Mayor, Louise Crawford says she is appalled by an antisemitic graffiti attack on a Beaconsfield Parade property on Friday evening.

A Middle Park home owned by a member of one of Victoria’s most successful business families was the target of the vandalism attack.

“Upon being notified of the Middle Park incident by Victoria Police, we dispatched our emergency response team to assist with the significant graffiti removal,” the Mayor (pictured) said.

“Our closely-knit Jewish community is still reeling from the December arson attack at the Adass Israel synagogue in Ripponlea.

“While, thankfully, this incident did not involve physical injuries, it is still a cowardly attack targeting Port Phillip’s Jewish community.”

She said the Council wanted the community to know that the organisation condemns any antisemitic activity in the city.

“Port Phillip celebrates and values its diverse community. An attack on any group is an attack on our City’s long-standing value of inclusion for all.”

“We are thankful for Victoria Police’s quick response and will further assist in any way we can,” said Mayor Crawford.
