Central Coast Council has taken a big step towards the revitalisation of Gosford with the endorsement of ‘Gosford Alive 2040’, an ambitious plan that will help shape the future of the city.
The plan proposes city-shaping projects and actions focused on transport connectivity, health and education, housing options, public domain improvements, economic growth, investment attraction and importantly, renewal and activation of the waterfront.
The Council says the plan brings together existing plans and initiatives for Gosford including public domain concepts, the special entertainment precinct trial, parks and open space masterplans, car parking strategies and other plans.
“Council has already begun work on projects that will ensure Gosford can cope with future growth, like the West Gosford major sewer main replacement project,” said Acting Mayor, John Mouland.
“With funding and coordination across all levels of government, our proposed program of capital works to upgrade parks, improve city centre roads, link shared pathways and transform our public domain will move us forward.”
The Council says it will now seek long-term leadership and support from the NSW Premier, Australian Minister for Transport, Regional Development and Local Government and others to align investment and funding priorities.
“And we’ve allocated funds to kick start our long-term vision by implementing its governance framework and identifying stakeholder groups in Gosford,” said Cr Mouland.
“We look forward working with the community, businesses and all levels of government to unlock opportunities that will strengthen Gosford’s role as the capital of the Central Coast and transform it into a thriving lifestyle destination of choice for residents, workers and visitors.”
