NSW Office of Local Government (OLG) Deputy Secretary, Brett Whitworth, will move into the role of Deputy Secretary, Strategic Projects and Priorities within the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure (DPHI) for six months from 4 November.
The role, reporting directly to the Secretary, will help coordinate work across the different levels of government to support the renewable energy transition and the delivery of new renewable energy capacity across NSW.
A key focus will be working closely with councils and communities to support this transition, Mr Whitworth said in a statement.
Scott Johnston, who is currently Deputy Secretary Corporate Services in DPHI, will step in as Acting Deputy Secretary, Local Government for the six-month period.
“Scott is a highly experienced public servant, having previously worked as the head of Revenue NSW before joining DPHI,” said Mr Whitworth.
“Scott will continue to progress OLG’s policy and regulatory agenda and I’ll work closely with him to ensure a smooth transition.
“Thank you for your ongoing support, and I look forward to working with many of you in my new role.”
