New report shows Hornsby Shire performance on track, says Mayor

Hornsby Shire Council has this week tabled its latest Performance Report, outlining what it says is positive progress with its 2025-2029 Delivery Program and 2025/26 Operational Plan in the first half of the financial year.

The Performance Report covers significant progress towards delivering major projects that will shape the future of the Shire.

It outlines how Hornsby Park continues its transformation from a former quarry into a landmark regional destination, with the Crusher Plant area drawing closer to completion, picnic facilities installed and key lookout structures well underway.

The Council says the works mark the return of public access to the site for the first time in more than a century.

The report also covers the progression of the Galston Village Public Domain Plan – detailed design is well progressed following endorsement of the plan, with construction anticipated to commence soon subject to final approvals. Meanwhile, the adoption of the Glenorie Village Place Plan in November further demonstrates Council’s commitment to supporting vibrant, resilient rural communities while protecting local character.

Council projects are also covered in the report, such as its park and playground upgrades at Fearnley Park, Beecroft and Mills Park, Asquith; change room and public toilet upgrade at Montview Oval; exercise equipment installation at North Epping Oval; as well as footpath construction, drainage and stormwater improvements, and the installation of shared paths, and signage.

The report covers operational highlights such as the wide range of community, environmental and cultural initiatives – including the launch of the Waste Warriors volunteer program – and Council’s commitment to inclusion, participation and community wellbeing through events, cultural programs and citizenship ceremonies.

“This Performance Report shows the scale of infrastructure delivery underway across Hornsby Shire, from major projects like Hornsby Park and our village centres, to upgrades that improve everyday access, recreation and amenity for our community,” said Mayor, Warren Waddell.

“We are making strong, practical investments in parks, sports facilities, footpaths, public amenities and local infrastructure, supported by responsible financial management. I encourage residents to stay engaged and share their views through our Your Say Hornsby website as we continue delivering these important works.”
